At SDS LLC, they held a Christmas event that was essentially a year-end party. That didn't mean they did nothing at the end of the year, though; they seemed to hold some kind of event regardless.

So, I introduced the lolicons to KOY.

KOY was a small shop run solely by Aniki, with nothing inside but counter seating. There were exactly four seats, and following me as I sat in the back, Yuuto, Takuto, and Ayato took their places in order.

The time was 9:00 PM.
The restaurants lined up around this shop were all very prosperous, but this place was as it always was, with only us inside.

"Aha! I've heard that occasionally, a dirty ramen shop is the best, but this is my first time actually entering one like this."

While giving a wry smile to Ayato, who had just declared it a "dirty shop" right in front of Aniki—or rather, the owner—I greeted him.

"Still a depressing shop, huh? You doing okay?"
"Still a cheeky brat. I'm doing just fine."

Ignoring the fact that my attitude was clearly the worse of the two, I introduced the three of them. Aniki and the lolicons seemed to hit it off immediately, and they were deep in conversation for a while.

I couldn't quite follow the flow of the conversation, but they were saying something about marriageable age. They seemed to be having fun, but I had no desire to join a scene of middle-aged men discussing things with beaming smiles, so I kept my head down and stayed quiet.

Eventually, when the conversation died down, the lolicons ordered the most expensive items on the menu, just as Aniki instructed. Since I was here anyway, I ordered the same thing. I couldn't hear the name of the dish, but I knew that if it was food made by Aniki, it wouldn't be a miss.

"This is a wonderful shop, Tendo Ryousei. I never thought I'd encounter a comrade like you."
"...Is that so?"

What kind of "comrades" are discussing marriageable age?
Was Aniki still single?

"Aha, he's a nice guy, isn't he?"
*Sometimes a shop like this is nice.*

The other two seemed to give it a generally high rating as well.
That was fine, but... it was bothering me.

"Hey, are you single?"
"Hah? What kind of stupid thing are you saying? How old do you think I am?"

Well, I've never asked his age... but I guess that means he's married.

"Aha, I want to go home."

Crap, I forgot he was there.

*Calm down, Ayato. It's surely that thing that changes every three months.*

What kind of follow-up is that?

"Aha, true."

He actually agreed. Is that okay?

"Geez, asking such weird questions. On the flip side, you—you have a daughter, but were you single again?"
"Yeah, something like that."

I don't remember clearly, but I feel like I vaguely mentioned my relationship with Misaki. I was probably making it up on the fly based on the mood at the time, so I thought it might get a bit troublesome if they asked for details, but fortunately, my fears were unfounded.

"By the way, we're also single. Though we have wives."

What are these lolicons talking about?

"If you keep saying such carefree things, you'll turn into a wizard before you know it."
"Hmph, too bad, Manager. I'm already a programmer known by the moniker 'The Magician' in the IT industry..."
*Yuuto, wipe your tears.*
"I'm not cryin', meow!"

Man, I feel like I understand the meaning of the conversation, but I also don't.

"A MIXER!!!!"

Ayato!? What is he screaming all of a sudden?

"Tendo-kun, you were close with that boss-like gal at the factory the other day, right? If you ask, I bet you can set something up! I mean, that factory was full of girls!"

Ayato spoke passionately from his position between the other two.

"Hey, Tendo Ryousei, I didn't hear about this! What do you mean 'close'?"
"Calm down, lolicon. You're not interested in anyone over ten, right?"
"That's different!! So if Tendo Ryousei asked for Misaki-chan, would you just give her to him!?"
"Like hell I would."
"Exactly!!"
"What do you mean 'exactly'?"

As I responded calmly, the lolicon clutched his hair, crying out, "Aaaah!" Then, he glared at my face.

"I want to hit that composed KaoExpression of yours with a Gandhi flying kick! Is it Misaki-chan!? Is it because Misaki-chan is there!?"
"No, Yuuto, maybe Tendo-kun has a girlfriend. Maybe he's been sneaking around behind our backs, behind our backs, behind our backs, behind our backs, behind our baaaaaaaaaaaaacks!!"
"You guys, calm down. What's with you all of a sudden?"

I said, holding back the approaching lolicon and Ayato, who had somehow flown over from the other side of the table. Seriously, what is wrong with these guys?

"I'm curious about that too. You—don't you have any rumors about you?"
"I don't."
"Ho, what about Professor Mayumi?"
"A new character has appearedrrrrrr!"
"Aha, you wanna go? You wanna do it? Let's do it, you normie!"
"Manager! Don't provoke them too much!!"

I protested toward Aniki's back as he cooked. I couldn't see his face, but I knew for certain he was wearing an irritated expression. That bastard is actually enjoying this.

"Kohinata-san is a friend. I'm very indebted to her, but I've never looked at her that way..."
"There was a pauseeeee!"
"Aha, ahaha, ahahahaha!"

Dammit, this is no good. Anything I say just adds fuel to the fire.

"Hey, Takuto, how do I get these guys to quiet down?"

I called out to Takuto, who had somehow escaped to a distant seat, seeking help.

"..."
"Takuto?"

After a brief silence,

"...I think the only way is to set up a mixer. ☆"

...Takuto, you too?

In the end, I did end up bowing my head to Akane.

But marriage... I don't really feel it, but before I knew it, I was 25\. I suppose I should start thinking about things like that.

That said, I have no experience with rumors or dating, and besides, there's no one there to begin with. The only women I can call acquaintances are Kohinata-san, Akane, and Yui.

I've never talked about this before, but I wonder how they are.

Kohinata-san is probably in the same situation as me.

Yui mentioned her husband ran away, but I don't know what the actual truth is.

I've only just reunited with Akane, but judging by the reaction of those employees, she likely doesn't have anyone.

Well, even if I think about these things, nothing is going to happen between me and them... but let's indulge in a "what if." Suppose I stay single like this, and Misaki grows up and, well, gets married.

Since I've resolved to make Misaki happy, just imagining entrusting her to someone else makes me feel like I'll vomit blood, but if it's what Misaki wants, I'll surely drink my tears of blood and accept it.

First, I'll beat the guy half to death... no, actually, the grown-up Misaki and I will...!

...I need to calm down.

Now that I've calmed down, nothing has changed, but the thought of Misaki getting married before me would surely be more painful than death.

I don't care what happens to myself, but I hate the idea of causing Misaki trouble for reasons like caregiving. I wonder how many years from now that would even be, but time flies in the blink of an eye.

Once again, regarding marriage.

I don't understand it at all.
But, I'll try to be a little more conscious of it.

That was my thought during the year-end party.
